Straight answers about online GP appointments, sick certs, prescriptions and privacy in Ireland.

Doctor consultation

Yes — all you need is a phone, tablet or laptop with an internet connection. Online GP consultations are available nationwide, whether you're in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford or out the country.

Completely. Consultations are encrypted and your data is stored on servers within the EU, in line with GDPR. What you tell your GP stays confidential.

If it's clinically appropriate after your consultation, yes — a medical certificate can be issued electronically, usually the same day. Illness Benefit certificates and some workplace forms still need in-person care; your GP will tell you straight if that's the case.

For many everyday conditions, yes — after a GP review, medication orders can be sent to a pharmacy of your choice where clinically appropriate. We do not prescribe controlled medications such as Tramadol, Diazepam, Gabapentin or sleeping tablets.

Prices are shown before you confirm, starting from €25. No subscriptions and no hidden charges — medication itself is paid separately at the pharmacy.

Some things need you in the room with a GP — Illness Benefit certification, NDLS driving medicals, fitness-to-fly or fitness-to-work certs, and referrals for blood tests or scans. Your GP will say if you need to be seen in person.
